|Don't hesitate to use Pouet and CPC Power to refresh your memory and make your choice!|
|Hicks - 09 January 2012 - 10:20:11||458 posts|
|- Note that we add a category: TOP 5 GAMES OF THE PAST YEAR (2011)!
- The idea is to put "cpc-sceners", so don't give us Ben Daglish as the best CPC musician of all time :)
- But you are free to put active (for motivation) and inactive (for a tribute) sceners in the TOP.

|Another precision: by "demo" we are speaking of all related to demomaking (trackmo, demo, onescreen, 256b, 1k, 4k).|

|What's about applications, hardware, and and and???|
|rexbeng - 10 January 2012 - 13:43:53||132 posts|
|Guys, this will not work for me. In my opinion you should have a number of nominees for each category (obviously there remains an issue on how these nominees will be selected) and then have the sceners pick their favourite one. Else, everyone is going to just vote for his group member/friend/highschool sweetheart. I've seen this happening since 1991 :P
|Optimus - 10 January 2012 - 14:12:43||334 posts|
|- The problem of nominee selection is that some people/groups/demos might be excluded. Some people who are worthy to some might not be selected. Someone might prefer to vote for newcomers to motivate. I don't have the option to fully chose.
- The problem with the current method is that one has to do his own research and usually we remember the demos but not the people behind them. This drives people more lazy. Usually the vote for the most popular ones but then the most popular always climb on the charts. Fortunatelly it's easier to do your research without spending much time because of the CPC scene is small.
Between the two options I prefer the current method.
|rexbeng - 10 January 2012 - 15:04:29||132 posts|
|So, the point is, not to vote for "the best" but to vote for "motivation"? Or for "de-motivation"? Or to support "my group/my views/my whatever"?
Is that the point? You can have a "promising newcomer" category if you like and propose nominees as well. But vote "best" for reasons of motivation, I don't think is the point here.
|Hicks - 10 January 2012 - 15:16:15||458 posts|
|Yes, it's impossible to make a totaly objective vote, but we can try. You are free to vote for the best (of all time), or for active people only, or anything else. You can put yourself in a Top if you try to be objective. And we don't want a pre-selection because it's better if everybody can be in the Top.
It's the first award, so, it's a kind of experimentation, we cannot expect something absolutely well-defined. Vote, try to give us your vision of "what is the top from your point of view", and "let's see what happens"!
|rexbeng - 10 January 2012 - 15:49:27||132 posts|
|Then why make charts in the first place? Make an area on each member's micropage where everyone can put his own "best choises" and then make a nice forum thread where we all can have fun with asking each other "why did rexbeng pick that one and not the other one".
As it is now, why should I vote for something that maybe noone else votes for and that vote ends up going to waste? Why not be able, from a small selection of "top choises", to vote for the one I think is the better, and to actually play a part in the decision of "the best one" in the end?
Think of a way that resembles presidential elections where numerous parties may compete in week one but only the top two compete in week two. And every voter is supposed to vote for any of these two, regardless their choise in the previous week.
Think of a way like the oscars. Why not make various categories (example; newcomer)...
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my biatching as much as I did :P
|Hicks - 10 January 2012 - 16:59:15||458 posts|
|We could speak of that for the next charts be we have already received a lot of votes, so we can't change something for this year...
For the results, we can show not only the "5 bests xxx" but the whole classement in each category (with the amount of point, even if someone have only 1 point and is 15th).
And stop talking, give a kick in the ass of this guy for ASB#2, and join the battle ;)
|rexbeng - 10 January 2012 - 17:43:50||132 posts|
|What? No biatching? Oh come on! :P
|voxfreax - 18 January 2012 - 14:19:01||223 posts|
|Hey, can I include CPC+ demos as well in my voting?
I think you know for which demo I ask this question :)
|krusty - 18 January 2012 - 14:30:41||327 posts|
|An additional question: what about inactive coders/graphicians/musicians ? Can we vote for them ?
In my opinion: yes. But voxy does not not share my point of view.
Organizers, what's your idea ?
|Toms - 18 January 2012 - 18:50:22||272 posts|
|We decided not to include Amstrad Plus demos in the charts. We don't have anything against it but the game between CPC and Plus wouldn't be fair. And there are not enough Amstrad Plus demos to dedicate a top 5 ;)
About inactive sceners, there are no rules. Some people included them in their charts and some others only voted for active sceners. You are totally free ;)
10 days left until the deadline! Hurry up, send us your charts!

|Idea for next year: a category for games in the last past 5 years would be more signicative than one year only.|
|Hicks - 22 January 2012 - 19:09:25||458 posts|
|Binary Science propaganda? :)
It's true, a "Best game since 2007" and "Best 'freeware/shareware' game ever" could be more interesting than "Best game in 2011"... Ok for next year!

|I won't vote, as I don't know enough recent things about the scene. I only can answer for drinks... ho yeah, unformaly, I'll vote for Colorlines for the game! ;-)|
